Hello All!

It’s been a long time since I’ve written and honest to goodness post around here and for that I’d like to apologize, it’s just that sometimes life or what goes on in it consumes you. Things suck up all your time and soon you find yourself neglecting the sharing and edifying of others with God’s Word, the Devil likes it that way.

Well it’s time to work out!

That’s right…work out!

Tonight I’ll be breaking down two verses from Philippians 2 and getting down to what is and is not being said through them so let’s check them out!

12 So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.

Philippians 2:12-13 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Breakout the Workout!

Oh…my…those verses look a bit like erm…works right. Coming from a legalistic background whe work out just stands out but before we try to figure it out we need to note something. Verse 12 starts with the words: “So then…” and those words are very much like “Therefore…” “Since…” or “Because of…”. The first question to ask when confronted with a there fore is…what is it there for!

...looks beautiful and proves that the heresy and horrible scriptural changes are still intact!

Son of God is a repackaged version of the New Testament sections of the miniseries The Bible which aired on The History Channel last year.

For those of you who have forgotten this is the one produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey with the hotline spiritual advisory panel of Rick Warren, Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes!

I shouldn’t need to remind you that the 10 hour miniseries while fantastic to look at was so theologically bankrupt that I couldn’t even bring myself to take the time to fully break down more than the first few episodes of the miniseries.

Needless to say that while Satan has been removed (see link below), a smooth move when you’ve already taken most if not all references to erm…sin out of the film to ostensibly save screentime- this film is still going to be filled with bad theology and horrible creative decisions.

For instance in the above trailer Seeker Jesus tells Peter in response to:

“What are we going to do?”

“Change the World!”

Which for those wondering is NOT what Christ came here to. He came to suffer and die taking ALL SIN upon Himself to provide a SUBSTITUTION for humanity. His blood is enough to cover everyone, but only covers those who are Born Again.

Christ didn’t come to this world to change the world….but to save us while in this world.

There’s also a clip from the feeding of the 5,000 which was just odd in it’s choices to have the disciples follow Jesus example and lift up their own baskets and pray to God and then SHAZAM! Fish and loaves in their baskets!

Later in one of the worst rewritten sequences in the entire miniseries Jesus has the stones removed from Lazarus tomb and ENTERS IT HIMSELF and then kisses Lazarus on the forehead and Lazarus suddenly awakens with wide eyes. A Jump scare of Biblical proportions not to mention missing the whole point of the Biblical narrative!

Also of note is the quick flash of shots just after the mallet slams into the head of the nail:

A shot of either the money changers cash or the cash that Judas tosses back toward the Temple Guards as they’re bringing Jesus out.

The clouds swirling around Golgotha that never truly bring about the darkness mentioned in the Biblical account.

Adam made of the dirt of the earth, a shot that I really love.

The destruction of Cirqe De’ Sodom and Gomorrah.

Moses staff being used to part the Red Sea.

All Old Testament things not that I’m complaining as surely they need to attempt to set up the story.

Although the placing of Jesus raising out of the water after being baptized is pretty strange being towards the end of the trailer.

Ending with the: “I am coming soon”. marking the end of the trailer and the end of the woefully inadequate Revelation scene is both smart marketing and a reminder of how underwhelming fitting the whole Bible into a 10 hour miniseries was.

Even though because of the running time of 2 hours there is less time for heresy my advice to you as you would probably imagine is, do NOT see this film.

Reading the Gospels will be be much more accurate and helpful so I recommend you do that.

In Christ,

Ross

An Introduction

Hello everyone!

Allow me to thank everyone who has continued to visit this blog especially during this extended time of me just being overwhelmed from all angles and just not getting around to posting much at all. That said the times of me posting not much at all look to be in the rear view mirror. Today I will be sharing the first of a series of planned articles on The Christian Walk. This series will be a guidebook to the life we have in Christ, and how there’s the opportunity for spiritual growth beyond simply being saved.

English: Resurrection of Christ

Over the next few weeks you’ll also see new posts continuing two other series that have been on hiatus. The Inductive Study of the Gospel of John  our verse by verse study through the Gospel of John and Project 3:16 our look (in context) at the passages located around every 3:16 in the Bible.

In The Beginning of The Christian Walk

The beginning of the Christian Walk starts when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, to see what that’s all about (and it’s very important that you do) feel free to visit this page: Finding Salvation in Jesus Christ!

This Salvation is a one time non-repeatable event, in this way it is similar to the event that enables us to be saved, the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Being Born Again (Born from Heaven or Above) is not something that you can do for yourself, it is God the Father sealing and filling you with God the Holy Spirit as a gift in response to you accepting the gift He gave you of His only begotten Son on the cross in your place.

The Story of Abraham and Sarah

One of the immediate issues I have is that in The Bible (TB) Abraham and Sarah are always named Abraham and Sarah. IN the Bible it wasn’t until later in the story when Abram and Sarai’s names were changed to Abraham and Sarah.

In TB God does in fact speak to Abraham about his Abrahamic Covenant promise so they got that part right.

He has received this vision/message.

Abraham goes off to pull his family together first getting Sarah (who should be Sarai) and then Lot and his wife, I’m thinking alright they’re going to pack up and head off just like The Bible actually says- not so much.

Abraham goes on to say that God told him of a land they were to go to.

This is Abraham saying that God had given him a message/vision/mission and now he’s appealing to his family and his wife to join him in making that vision a reality.

How many current “Christian” churches are founded by leaders that have a “vision from God” “message from God” who then bring forth that vision/message to the church body and ask them to join him in making that vision a reality.

Also of note over and over again the narrator throughout TB will say over and over again- especially during transitions between segments/characters things like- “they were looking for a new leader.” “The people of Israel were looking for a new breed of leader.”

In fact I’ll mention this again when I get to the New Testament sections of TB but even in the introduction of Christ the narrator still says something like- “during this time of oppression and turmoil Israel is looking for a new kind of leader.”

There is an unfolding trend here and it can’t really be missed. TB is a string of connected leadership stories and not truly a story about redemption. It’s more man centered than God centered.

Hello folks and thanks for stopping by The Bible Runner Online!

Today is really exciting because I’m going to be sharing with you some of the hard work that went into the filming of the independent Christian film The Thief in The Night (TTiTN)!

You can follow us on facebook by clicking on this link: The Thief in The Night on Facebook!

A Little History

TTiTN began as the Lord put the idea very strongly to my friend and Writer/Director Daniel Medina Jr. around 3 years ago now. He had talked and donated his clothes to  kids who were being helped out by an awesome local  organization called Youth Hope which you can find out more about here: Check out Youth Hope!

He talked to a vast number of kids at Youth Hope about their rough lives and all they’ve been through to survive, these are heartbreaking stories, but they also have hope.

TTiTN is a film designed to bring to light the struggles of living a life similar to the lives lived by some of these kids. About the spiritual warfare that goes on over each and every life, for God wants you to find Salvation through Jesus Christ and the Devil wants to steal kill and destroy.

English: The Covenant Confirmed, by John Steep...

English: The Covenant Confirmed, by John Steeple Davis (1844-1917), as in Exodus 24 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The other day I was reading through Exodus 24 and came upon the passage we’re going to look at first below and then thing that struck me the most about it was what was done in verse 8. This was a solemn ceremony of dedication to the Lord, the Israelites were being brought closer to God by means of the Old Covenant– it was God’s provision to draw them close to Himself. Making them a peculiar people and a Holy nation.

However that’s not all we’re going to talk about today, we’re also going to talk about the New Covenant which was also inaugurated by blood and sacrifice. However this was the best sacrifice spilling the only blood that can take away sin. The New Covenant was something wholly different from the Old Covenant so much so that even in Hebrews the Old Covenant was stated as being “about to disappear.

Let’s look at the Inauguration of the Old Covenant.

Inaugurating the Old Covenant

Moses came and told the people all the commands of the Lord and all the ordinances. Then all the people responded with a single voice, “We will do everything that the Lord has commanded.” And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and 12 pillars for the 12 tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain. Then he sent out young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed bulls as fellowship offerings to the Lord. Moses took half the blood and set it in basins; the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. They responded, “We will do and obey everything that the Lord has commanded.”

Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.”

Exodus 24:3-8

To set this up one must realize that in Chapter 20 you have the Ten Commandments given to Israel to set them apart from any other nation. Chapters 21-23 are all about the Ordinances that the Israelites were also to keep in order to be Holy to the Lord. Great care is taken here to go into the minute details to ensure that all of the ordinances have clarity so none can be incorrectly understood and thus broken without knowledge.

Growing up as a Seventh Day Adventist PK I used to hear a phrase quite a lot and and the way I was taught and understood it shaped my way of thinking as a youngster. Let me recount it for you here:

Do you sin because you’re a sinner or are you a sinner because you sin?

The way I learned things was that the case was that I was a sinner because I sinned but that’s not right, not at all.

We’re All Sinners

Let’s just get the obvious out of the way right now The Bible states that we’re ALL Sinner’s and and have fallen short of the glory of God.

You can find that right here in Romans 3:23:

23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

So once again we’ve all sinned…but have we sinned because we’re sinners or are we sinners therefore we sin?

Hello all and a Happy New Year each and every one of you!

Today I want to talk with you about New Years Resolutions. You know what resolutions are, those promises you make that generally fall by the wayside within weeks if not months of making them. We start off with the best of intentions, like athletes breaking from the blocks at the starters pistol and into the 100 meter dash. Only we quickly realize that we’ve been put in the field for the Marathon instead- and not just a marathon but an ultra marathon! Soon our resolutions are left behind at the side of the road because they take so much effort, so much time, a hindrance rather than a help.

There is however one resolution that is worth the effort and time, one that the Devil himself will actively be a hindrance against.

Do you see that liquid station on the ultra marathon ahead? In fact it’s not ahead, it’s right alongside, the entire length of the route! (more…)

Hello again and thanks for stopping by!

Today we are going to look at one of the most important teachings in all of Christendom and that is the Coming of Christ for His Bride the Church. It is called the Rapture and it has been under scrutiny and attack by opponents of Christianity and even those with different understanding of the Word of God.

Previous Articles on the Rapture from The Bible-Runner Online

In the past I’ve talked about how the Rapture and the Second Coming/Glorious Appearing are two separate events, you can find that article here: Differences between the Rapture and 2nd Coming.

February 3rd of 2011 I posted about the Rapture in John 14:1-3 using my whiteboard to make the key points of that Rapture teaching of Christ easily readable and understandable. You can find that here: John 14:1-3 Christ’s Rapture Teaching.

April 18th 2011 God again put the Rapture on my heart and I wrote a post I titled All About: The Rapture you can find that here: All About The Rapture.

And there’s more!

Christ and The Pharisees

Christ and The Pharisees (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Introduction

The other night I was going through a long list of comments awaiting approval, it had been a pretty tough week but there was no good reason for me to send one comment to the trash. Simply stated I made a mistake- however it’s a mistake I can rectify by writing a upcoming series of blog articles this one being the first.

In the comment it stated flatly that Once Saved Always Saved (OSASwas one of the Devils’ greatest lies, right away I took great offense at the statement- not just personally but the Holy Spirit that indwells in me made it clear to my spirit that the statement was flat out wrong.

So to be blunt yes I wholly believe in OSAS and in this article I’ll give you a number of reasons why I feel that the Bible backs up OSAS and my beliefs about it.

Born Again

3 There was a man from the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one could perform these signs You do unless God were with him.”

Jesus replied, “I assure you: Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

“But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”

Jesus answered, “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:1-8 (Emphasis Mine)

Born Again can be translated as Born of Heaven or Born of God. When we believe unto Salvation God send the Holy Spirit to Indwell and Seal us- He also brings OUR Spirit back to life enabling us to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Being Born of water- Physical Birth is all well and good but we’re Born Spiritually Dead. If someone were to be Born of the water and live a “good” life…perhaps even attend church, help at the soup kitchen, devote time to needy youth- live a full and giving life and not be Born of The Spirit…Born Again…they would still be eternally lost.
