Hello All!

It’s been a long time since I’ve written and honest to goodness post around here and for that I’d like to apologize, it’s just that sometimes life or what goes on in it consumes you. Things suck up all your time and soon you find yourself neglecting the sharing and edifying of others with God’s Word, the Devil likes it that way.

Well it’s time to work out!

That’s right…work out!

Tonight I’ll be breaking down two verses from Philippians 2 and getting down to what is and is not being said through them so let’s check them out!

12 So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.

Philippians 2:12-13 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Breakout the Workout!

Oh…my…those verses look a bit like erm…works right. Coming from a legalistic background whe work out just stands out but before we try to figure it out we need to note something. Verse 12 starts with the words: “So then…” and those words are very much like “Therefore…” “Since…” or “Because of…”. The first question to ask when confronted with a there fore is…what is it there for!

Later this year we’ll be releasing the Premiere Episode of The Bible Runners!

Preparing The World

Right now I’m currently preparing character biographies for the major characters in the Bible Runners universe. At the same time we have to find a talented team of voice actors to bring the characters to life, my friend and Brother in Christ Jack Dauer of the Iceberg Lounge Podcast is helping with that. I’ve also started working on the script for the pilot episode, in which we’ll gently ease you into the world that I’ve been creating over the past 20 years.

However this is a world that you will not be able to look at after all podcasts do not feature video at all. So the first question I had to ask when in the conceptual stage for the podcast was: how can I bring the world to live visually if the listener can’t see it?

Hello Folks!

Sorry it’s been a while since my last post, as usual thing have been surprisingly busy, however today’s post couldn’t wait another day. I say this because coming up tomorrow it would be really helpful to understand the ins and outs of being a good Christian sports-fan! (Note that this can and should be applied to all sports including those featuring individual athletes).

Diagram This Out

I LOVE football! I don’t know why you call it football when you use your hands most of the time, but then calling it handball is right out! (For what it’s worth the British term for “American Football” GRIDIRON is totally awesome! Back on point I love teams playing great football, I love the Seahawks playing exceptional football, but I love my 49ers more!

I’ve been a 49er fan since the early 80’s, my first football on the telly was 49ers vs. the Raiders and it wasn’t even close. I loved the 49ers intensity and passion- I loved that they wore the color red- it always reminds me of the blood that poured from my Savior to wash my sins whiter than snow! And I’ve been a fan ever since, through lean years, through the almost there years, and now we’re back at the top of our game it’s an exciting time to be a 49er fan- just as it is right now to be a Seahawks, Patriots or Broncos fan.

Tomorrow I’m going to be enjoying the first church service (at the Packinghouse we’re going through Romans!) and then making my way to an awesome local sports bar (The Upper Deck Sports Lounge at Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom in Redlands CA.) for both games. (What you’re about to read also applies to those watching the games at home also). There will be passionate fans there for all the teams, and there is nothing wrong with being passionate in the support of your team but you need to keep a few things in mind- some Biblical things.

The Story of Abraham and Sarah

One of the immediate issues I have is that in The Bible (TB) Abraham and Sarah are always named Abraham and Sarah. IN the Bible it wasn’t until later in the story when Abram and Sarai’s names were changed to Abraham and Sarah.

In TB God does in fact speak to Abraham about his Abrahamic Covenant promise so they got that part right.

He has received this vision/message.

Abraham goes off to pull his family together first getting Sarah (who should be Sarai) and then Lot and his wife, I’m thinking alright they’re going to pack up and head off just like The Bible actually says- not so much.

Abraham goes on to say that God told him of a land they were to go to.

This is Abraham saying that God had given him a message/vision/mission and now he’s appealing to his family and his wife to join him in making that vision a reality.

How many current “Christian” churches are founded by leaders that have a “vision from God” “message from God” who then bring forth that vision/message to the church body and ask them to join him in making that vision a reality.

Also of note over and over again the narrator throughout TB will say over and over again- especially during transitions between segments/characters things like- “they were looking for a new leader.” “The people of Israel were looking for a new breed of leader.”

In fact I’ll mention this again when I get to the New Testament sections of TB but even in the introduction of Christ the narrator still says something like- “during this time of oppression and turmoil Israel is looking for a new kind of leader.”

There is an unfolding trend here and it can’t really be missed. TB is a string of connected leadership stories and not truly a story about redemption. It’s more man centered than God centered.

It’s often said in making a film that finding the right locations for certain shots is half the battle. This counts for itty bitty no budget Christian short films as well. Case in point I’m working on my own Christian Short called Future Drive and the central scene in the film is one of the most important. I just can’t choose the location…so I’m asking for YOUR opinion.

Both of these locations work fine for the scene in question and I’ve even done some testing at both locations.

The choices are….Location A:

Location A

Location A

Or Location B:

Location B

Location B

Please cast you votes using the Poll and Thank You! (Voting closes Midnight on Friday PST)!

Hello folks and thanks for stopping by The Bible Runner Online!

Today is really exciting because I’m going to be sharing with you some of the hard work that went into the filming of the independent Christian film The Thief in The Night (TTiTN)!

You can follow us on facebook by clicking on this link: The Thief in The Night on Facebook!

A Little History

TTiTN began as the Lord put the idea very strongly to my friend and Writer/Director Daniel Medina Jr. around 3 years ago now. He had talked and donated his clothes to  kids who were being helped out by an awesome local  organization called Youth Hope which you can find out more about here: Check out Youth Hope!

He talked to a vast number of kids at Youth Hope about their rough lives and all they’ve been through to survive, these are heartbreaking stories, but they also have hope.

TTiTN is a film designed to bring to light the struggles of living a life similar to the lives lived by some of these kids. About the spiritual warfare that goes on over each and every life, for God wants you to find Salvation through Jesus Christ and the Devil wants to steal kill and destroy.

English: The Covenant Confirmed, by John Steep...

English: The Covenant Confirmed, by John Steeple Davis (1844-1917), as in Exodus 24 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The other day I was reading through Exodus 24 and came upon the passage we’re going to look at first below and then thing that struck me the most about it was what was done in verse 8. This was a solemn ceremony of dedication to the Lord, the Israelites were being brought closer to God by means of the Old Covenant– it was God’s provision to draw them close to Himself. Making them a peculiar people and a Holy nation.

However that’s not all we’re going to talk about today, we’re also going to talk about the New Covenant which was also inaugurated by blood and sacrifice. However this was the best sacrifice spilling the only blood that can take away sin. The New Covenant was something wholly different from the Old Covenant so much so that even in Hebrews the Old Covenant was stated as being “about to disappear.

Let’s look at the Inauguration of the Old Covenant.

Inaugurating the Old Covenant

Moses came and told the people all the commands of the Lord and all the ordinances. Then all the people responded with a single voice, “We will do everything that the Lord has commanded.” And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and 12 pillars for the 12 tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain. Then he sent out young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed bulls as fellowship offerings to the Lord. Moses took half the blood and set it in basins; the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. They responded, “We will do and obey everything that the Lord has commanded.”

Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.”

Exodus 24:3-8

To set this up one must realize that in Chapter 20 you have the Ten Commandments given to Israel to set them apart from any other nation. Chapters 21-23 are all about the Ordinances that the Israelites were also to keep in order to be Holy to the Lord. Great care is taken here to go into the minute details to ensure that all of the ordinances have clarity so none can be incorrectly understood and thus broken without knowledge.

Hello all and a Happy New Year each and every one of you!

Today I want to talk with you about New Years Resolutions. You know what resolutions are, those promises you make that generally fall by the wayside within weeks if not months of making them. We start off with the best of intentions, like athletes breaking from the blocks at the starters pistol and into the 100 meter dash. Only we quickly realize that we’ve been put in the field for the Marathon instead- and not just a marathon but an ultra marathon! Soon our resolutions are left behind at the side of the road because they take so much effort, so much time, a hindrance rather than a help.

There is however one resolution that is worth the effort and time, one that the Devil himself will actively be a hindrance against.

Do you see that liquid station on the ultra marathon ahead? In fact it’s not ahead, it’s right alongside, the entire length of the route! (more…)

Introduction

Hello again and thanks for stopping by!

Today we are going to look at one of the most important teachings in all of Christendom and that is the Coming of Christ for His Bride the Church. It is called the Rapture and it has been under scrutiny and attack by opponents of Christianity and even those with different understanding of the Word of God.

Previous Articles on the Rapture from The Bible-Runner Online

In the past I’ve talked about how the Rapture and the Second Coming/Glorious Appearing are two separate events, you can find that article here: Differences between the Rapture and 2nd Coming.

February 3rd of 2011 I posted about the Rapture in John 14:1-3 using my whiteboard to make the key points of that Rapture teaching of Christ easily readable and understandable. You can find that here: John 14:1-3 Christ’s Rapture Teaching.

April 18th 2011 God again put the Rapture on my heart and I wrote a post I titled All About: The Rapture you can find that here: All About The Rapture.

And there’s more!
