An Introduction

Hello everyone!

Allow me to thank everyone who has continued to visit this blog especially during this extended time of me just being overwhelmed from all angles and just not getting around to posting much at all. That said the times of me posting not much at all look to be in the rear view mirror. Today I will be sharing the first of a series of planned articles on The Christian Walk. This series will be a guidebook to the life we have in Christ, and how there’s the opportunity for spiritual growth beyond simply being saved.

Over the next few weeks you’ll also see new posts continuing two other series that have been on hiatus. The Inductive Study of the Gospel of John  our verse by verse study through the Gospel of John and Project 3:16 our look (in context) at the passages located around every 3:16 in the Bible.

In The Beginning of The Christian Walk

The beginning of the Christian Walk starts when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, to see what that’s all about (and it’s very important that you do) feel free to visit this page: Finding Salvation in Jesus Christ!

This Salvation is a one time non-repeatable event, in this way it is similar to the event that enables us to be saved, the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Being Born Again (Born from Heaven or Above) is not something that you can do for yourself, it is God the Father sealing and filling you with God the Holy Spirit as a gift in response to you accepting the gift He gave you of His only begotten Son on the cross in your place.

This being Born Again, and the salvation is secures logically cannot be undone by anything you may or may not do. It is quite possible to be saved and lead a life where you do not progress in your Christian walk at all. You will still remain saved. In fact you will simply be like a large number of Christians are today- Everyday or Common Christians- we’ll discuss that more later.

You can just as soon un-save yourself as you can de-baptize yourself by having yourself blown on by a hairdryer! Both are nonsense and yet people think that they can loose their salvation when we’re being held on God’s hands- our Salvation is secured in Heaven, in Christ, In God Himself!

You can’t become any less baptized by getting blown on with a hairdryer. It is not baptism that saves people anyway. And one must ask those who are ridiculing God to His face with this malarkey if they were ever Born Again in the first place. Actually with this fruit being displayed I think it’s pretty easy to tell the truth about their spiritual standing.

Once you are Born Again, you are Born Again forever. You are Secure forever. In fact you are a new creation!

A New Creation?

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.

2nd Corinthians 5:17

I recommend you read the entire 5th Chapter to get the full context because it is totally flabbergasting and AWESOME! And speaks in itself to what this entire series on the Christian Walk is all about.

Just to quickly and simply break down this verse the if in there should be since. We’re talking about those who are Christians (the new creation in question), since I’m Born again and hopefully you are Born Again you can make this very singular.

“Therefore since Ross is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.”

If you are a Christian slide your name in there, for this truth is the same for anyone who is in Christ. I’ll write out the sentence again but put a line you can write your name on if you choose to print this post out. A great idea as it will remind you that you ARE and NEW CREATION!

“Therefore since _____________________ is in Christ he/she is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.”

The remainder of the chapter goes on to talk about the old things that have passed away and the new things that have come. And the new impetus we should have as Christians.

The new creation is a Christian. Before you were a Christian you were either a Jewish or Gentile sinner and now you are this new creation a Christian. You have by your choice to accept Christ aligned yourself with Christ and against the Father of Lies, Satan who was up until you’re spiritual rebirth actually the one who was in charge of your life.

To borrow a verse from Colossians 1:

13 He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.

Praise be to God! We are new Creations! Rescued through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the Blood of the New Covenant and transferred into the Family of God! It’s mind boggling!

I hate to put a damper on things but equally mind boggling is that so many people who become Christian are simply content to be saved and never move on from this simply saved position and grown through a Christian Walk.

Let me use a example to try and clarify this for you.

On the Sidelines

Imagine that as a Christian you are now on the sidelines part of the team it’s a team with lots and lots of members, but the playing field is the world itself so you seem small and insignificant. You see others like yourself dressed in sporting undergarments at least everyone else is wearing these, but many are not entering the playing field.

Others ahead of you are putting on further shirts, pants, belts, pads, cleats, helmets. The coach whispers a few words in their ear and then they’re off onto the playing field. You watch as some perform amazing feats, others are injured and helped off the field.

The opponents are frightening, not of this world, spiritual. “I want to go in!” you call out in spite of your fear. And the coach turns and gently says,

“You’re not ready to go yet child.” Confusion washes over your face, you see this look on others around you, and feel a fear in the pit of your stomach that gets deeper and deeper.

“You’ll never be good enough to enter the game. You fail every day, you fail every time, you’re a looser.” Says the ever present Father of Lies the Devil.

You look down ashamed, but the coach walks over and crouches in front of you catching you with his eyes. In His nail pierced hands He holds out to you The Bible.

“Learn the playbook, and do not pay attention to the deceivers lies. The work I’ve started in you I will carry out until the day of completion. Pray and read, put on the armor of God, and you will be ready to enter the battle of the playing field. And always call on me for help for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”.

You see that His smile and love are real, and you can feel in your Spirit that His promise is true. Taking The Bible you open it and begin to study and understand the playbook.

God Want’s Us to GROW! Yet the Devil says NO!

Some people never make it past the sidelines because they are satisfied with simply being saved.

Sometimes this is out of fear, sometimes it’s because of selfishness, embarrassment- and all of these are stumbling blocks put out by The Devil.

The Devil and his spiritual allies demons are now firmly against you because you have chosen a side and it’s not theirs! Thanks to Christ’s work in you, you have been spiritually reborn, you are saved and secure, you have nothing to fear! Yet the Devil will attack with doubts, lies, and hatred towards your Savior, towards you.

This is called Spiritual Warfare and it happens the moment you are saved and stand on the sidelines. And it will never EVER stop until you are called home to Heaven. It’s a scary thought if you let doubt overwhelm you, if you simply sit on the bench and don’t study the playbook you will be overwhelmed.

That’s why you need to listen to God the Holy Spirit who is IN YOU and SEALING YOU for his TRUTH is essential and the Devils lies while Painful (if you focus on them) are just meaningless threats. The Devil brings up your transgressions yet in 2nd Corinthians we are told that our transgressions are no longer held against us by God!

Who are you going to believe?

In Conclusion

It is easy in many ways to stay in a simply saved position. We as humans don’t traditionally like to take risks. How can I stand for Christ if I’m the only one in the family? Then be the only one in the family! Watch what God can do through that!

Don’t be a simply satisfied Christian, God has not called us to satisfaction but Transformation.

He never promised it would be easy, but He did promise it would be worth it.

And He totally promised that the work that He started in us is something that He will bring to completion.

Next time we’ll talk about dealing with the fear and lies that the Devil uses to try and stop us from moving forward and what we can do to combat the enemies plans.

In Christ,
