Hello all and a Happy New Year each and every one of you!

Today I want to talk with you about New Years Resolutions. You know what resolutions are, those promises you make that generally fall by the wayside within weeks if not months of making them. We start off with the best of intentions, like athletes breaking from the blocks at the starters pistol and into the 100 meter dash. Only we quickly realize that we’ve been put in the field for the Marathon instead- and not just a marathon but an ultra marathon! Soon our resolutions are left behind at the side of the road because they take so much effort, so much time, a hindrance rather than a help.

There is however one resolution that is worth the effort and time, one that the Devil himself will actively be a hindrance against.

Do you see that liquid station on the ultra marathon ahead? In fact it’s not ahead, it’s right alongside, the entire length of the route!

Satan however blinds the spiritual eyes so that we end up thinking we’re all alone in this desert place, all alone with nothing to drink or eat. But that’s not true! Don’t listen to that wily Lion, seeking to devour you. That sneaky serpent is still the originator of sin, and still the father of lies.

As we run this ultra marathon it will lead us towards the end of our lives, it will lead us forward to completion. Over hills, through treacherous terrain, perhaps even through the valley of death- yet GOD IS WITH US!

We need to ask God to open the eyes of our heart, our Spiritual eyes so that we can see the liquid station! It’s His Word- “…a lamp unto our feet and light for our path…” and He promises that “…whoever drinks from the water that I give him will never get thirsty again- ever!”

Let’s us partake of the living water, let’s us pray, read His word, meet with our Brothers and Sisters in Christ for the breaking of bread and the reading of the Word. And we will not only have energy to continue running the race that is set before us…oh no!- not only that but as Christ went on to say as He continued speaking to the woman at the well.

“In fact the water I give him will become a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

And later He made an even more amazing statement:

“If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink! The one who believes in Me Scripture has said will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”

This water isn’t the written Word…but the ever Living Word, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He’s standing along the road of our life, cheering us on, ready to give us support and encouragement from Himself. We only have to ask and He will give us more living water until we overflow, we are leaky vessels, and He has living waters in such abundance He can simply follow us along the road of life dousing us all the way!

And yet too often we fail to see Him, we deny Him the joy of being our help and our joy and our peace. The Devil convinces us that we are self sufficient, and can handle things ourselves- and then he rubs our face in it when we inevitably fail!

Don’t be deceived be RELIEVED!

Don’t eat breakfast until you’ve partaken of the living water and gotten nourishment from the Word. Remember to put on the armor of God to protect you from the spiritual attacks of the devil.

God wants you to yearn for Him as the deer pants for the water- in other words all of the time.

So let’s make this our new years resolution, to partake of the Living water and meat and potatoes of the Word so that God’s Living water can flow through us and into the lives of others.

In Christ,

Ross
