Apparently this app really does exist, which strikes me really really sad, why must Adventists cling to something…the Law in case you were wondering that cannot save them?

You see Adventists believe that we are still under the Law, but in Galatians it points out that Christ died under the Law to redeem us from the Law…and that the Law was a schoolmaster (teacher) until Christ appeared.

Galatians 3:19-27

19 Why then was the law given?   It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come. The law was put into effect through angels  by means of a mediator.  20 Now a mediator is not for just one person, but God is one.  21 Is the law therefore contrary to God’s promises? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness would certainly be by the law. 22 But the Scripture has imprisoned everything under sin’s power,17 so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 Before this faith came, we were confined under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith was revealed. 24 The law, then, was our guardian until Christ, so that we could be justified by faith. 25 But since that faith af  has come, we are no longer under a guardian, 26 for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ like a garment.

Adventism is about showing oneself to be righteous under the Law which is impossible.

Is it any wonder why many Adventists are not happy and are not SDA’s but SAD’s.

In Christ,

  1. Are you serious says:

Are you serious? The first thing you should do is educate yourself on what Adventist believe. The you should pray before you open your mouth, let alone quote scripture. Christ came to fulfill the law of God, not to destroy it. People like yourself use that scripture to say that God’s standards are too high to be kept. If God’s Law is no longer valid what do we need His Grace for? No, we are not saved by keeping the law. By simply being born we became transgressors of the law. Without the law of God there is chaos in our lives. Because of grace I am saved through faith in Jesus Christ who died for my sins. By the why Jesus kept the law. His blood covers me whenever I fall short of God’s law. God bless you my brother. Love Ron, an Adventist.

      Brother Ron,

I am a 3rd Generation Former Adventist Pastors Kid. I do in fact know of what I speak. Adventists add things that we need to do on top of what Jesus, God in Man, did on the cross for us. If we add one thing to what God in Man did for us on the cross then we have something we can boast in and Salvation is no longer a gift from God by Grace through Faith alone!

If you add keeping the 10 Commandments then you are mixing Law and Grace and the Holy Spirit through Paul in Galatians 1 says that:

6 I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from Him who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — 7 not that there is another gospel, i but there are some who are troubling you and want to change the good news about the Messiah. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than what we have preached to you, l a curse be on him! 9 As we have said before, I now say again: If anyone preaches to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him!

In other words if anyone adds to By Grace have you been Saved through faith…a curse be on him. And that is exactly what Adventists do.

In Galatians chapter 2 the Holy Spirit continues through Paul:

15 We who are Jews by birth and not “Gentile sinners” 16 know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. And we have believed in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified. 17 But if we ourselves are also found to be “sinners” while seeking to be justified by Christ, is Christ then a promoter of sin? Absolutely not! 18 If I rebuild the system I tore down, I show myself to be a lawbreaker. 19 For through the law I have died to the law, so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ 20 and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died ai for nothing.

If you cannot follow both the Holy Spirit and Paul in their thinking I’ve hi-lighted and italicized the key points. Verse 18 leaps out at me as Paul is saying that if I he were to rebuild/re-enable the system from before He would be a lawbreaker. Christ fulfilled the Law, we can NEVER keep the law, that is why we die with Christ on the Cross when we are Born From Heaven. And we are Born/Reborn with HIM IN US via the Holy Spirit. We are seen as perfect through the sacrifice of Christ.

In Galatians 3 The Holy Spirit through Paul continues:

1 You foolish Galatians! Who has hypnotized you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified? 2 I only want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now going to be made complete by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so much for nothing — if in fact it was for nothing? 5 So then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?

In other words, were you truly saved. Did you come to a saving faith? Did you become filled with the Spirit by the works of the Law or by hearing with faith? Are you so stupid that you think you can finish what was started by the Spirit with deeds of the flesh?

Or to put it even more bluntly: Why are you adding to Grace by Faith keeping the Commandments or Keeping a Certain day- you are free In Christ. He died under the Law to redeem you from the Law!

Do you know why the Holy Spirit through Paul is so impassioned about this?

In Galatians 4 Paul continues as moved by the Holy Spirit:

1 Now I say that as long as the heir a is a child, he differs in no way from a slave, though he is the owner of everything. 2 Instead, he is under guardians and stewards until the time set by his father. 3 In the same way we also, when we were children, were in slavery under the elemental forces of the world. 4 When the time came to completion, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father! ” 7 So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. 8 But in the past, when you didn’t know God, you were enslaved to things that by nature are not gods. 9 But now, since you know God, or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and bankrupt elemental forces? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again? 10 You observe special days, months, seasons, and years. 11 I am fearful for you, that perhaps my labor for you has been wasted.

What are these elemental forces? What are the guardians and stewards? The Law, the Old Covenant. Jesus inaugurated a new Covenant during the Last Supper and He ratified it by His death. It is a Covenant of Grace and is far better than the Law…and yet there are many that like to mix Law and Grace. But new wine doesn’t go into Old wineskins, Grace and the Law don’t mix.

And yet a great many people do mix them, and SDA’s are one of those groups. And the Holy Spirit through Paul is adamant please don’t go back there! Are you nuts! Has all of my teaching, not to mention Christ’s teaching through me been in vain!

In Galatians 5 the Holy Spirit through Paul makes things dramatically clear:

1 Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery. 2 Take note! I, Paul, tell you that if you get yourselves circumcised, Christ will not benefit you at all. 3 Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to keep the entire law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace. 5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.

Christ hates a mixture of Law and Grace, that’s not what He died to bring in. The Holy Spirit makes that clear through Paul:

Christ died on the cross to set you free from the Law so stand firm and don’t go back there! If you get yourselves circumcised/act like Jews when you’re not/go back to keeping even one part of the law…you are obligated to keep the entire Law! You who are seeking to be justified by the Law are alienated from Christ!

In other words if you go back to the Law after Jesus fulfilled/abolished/tore down (All are proper translations) that Law on the cross then you are placing yourself in opposition to Christ. That’s a place you are not supposed to be, if you are truly Born Again, Born from Heaven and follow the Holy Spirit you will never be alienated from Christ. However if you say you’re born again and then return to the Law that Christ fulfilled it’s like you’re cursing Him and His work on the Cross.

      Don’t mix Law and Grace.

      In Christ,

The utube clip was a JOKE!! and a funny one at that, not a theological discussion on Law or a sales spot. Perhaps a discussion could be had on living what you profess or on being nonjudgmental. By the way, what is your stand on murder, theft, adultery, etc. To be Christlike, you must know the character of Christ- beautifully summed up in the eternal law of God. I don’t follow the law in order to be saved, I follow it BECAUSE I am saved. Sorry about your Dad, there are legalists in every church and it sounds like that is what you were exposed to. I am saved only by the Grace of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who died for my sins. I am FREE, free to live a life patterned after the One who saved me. I encourage you to read the following article. I would be interested in your thoughts on it.

    In Him,

  3. rossbondreturns says:

Debbie Jesus died under the Law to Free us from the Law. Whether or not this clip is a joke ( and i don’t believe that it’s wise to joke about such things) it still points to the Adventist teaching that they hold the Sabbath to be bigger and more important than the Lord of the Sabbath.

Remember the Sabbath is a shadow that is cast by Christ, we are called to worship the caster of the shadow and not the shadow itself.

The Law (Old Covenant) was changed The title of the New Testament means is there to show a New Covenant had to come in.

Jeremiah 31:31-34 even says that the Old Covenant….the Law would be changed, it says the New Covenant will not be like the Old Covenant. It would be the Law of the Spirit that is put in our new hearts and new minds.

The New Covenant is what we celebrate by partaking of The Lord’s Table (The Lord’s Supper) what does Christ say- “…This do ye in remembrance of ME.”

Notice not remembrance of a Day, and certainly a day is not the seal of God, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit indwelling the new believer is the Seal of God.

So holding the Sabbath as the seal of God adds to the finished work of Christ on the cross. Salvation is no longer by simply grace plus faith…but the added work of Keeping the Sabbath.

In Galatians Paul states that if you mix the Law and Grace they you alienate yourself from Christ. He also says that if you strive to keep one aspect of the Law (circumcision for instance) you are required to keep the Law.

To paraphrase Paul: “Hold no day above another, each day is alike.”

I am not judging you on keeping a day Holy, but when you make it a requirement for Salvation, I have to judge you guilty of teaching another Gospel.
