When FOX took over the Narnia series of films from Disney they spent less money but moved the series into 3-D with Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I saw it with a group from my church and we were thoroughly entertained if nothing else, the film certainly didn’t lack action and excitement.

However box office numbers is what runs the film making industry and domestically VotDT did not set the Box Office on fire. Made for $155 million it grossed just $24.5 on its opening weekend, and a total of $107 Million total. However as I’ve said on my secular blog international box office matters and overseas VotDT took in over $300 Million bringing it’s cumulative total in just shy of that of Prince Caspian.

So that means we’ll be seeing The Silver Chair next right, not so fast Michael Flaherty president of Waldenmedia while talking to The Christian Post that they are in talks to adapt The Magician’s Nephew as the next big screen Narnia adaptation.

Here’s a very short synopsis of the story: The next volume in the series is actually the first in the sequence–and a step back in time. In this unforgettable story, British schoolchildren Polly and Digory inadvertently tumble into the Wood Between the Worlds, where they meet the evil Queen Jadis and, ultimately, the great, mysterious King Aslan. We witness the birth of Narnia and discover the legendary source of all the adventures that are to follow in the seven books that comprise the series.

What do you think about this decision?

Would you rather they did The Silver Chair next or are you simply glad that the series is continuing?

I’m just happy to see the series continuing myself and I’ll cover the production of The Magician’s Nephew until it’s arrival, or until God takes us home.

In Christ,
