The Bible

Image via Wikipedia

In the Bible the names had great meaning, and when they were changed they had an even greater meaning. When a Biblical name was changed it generally pointed to a transition point or change in the walk of one who followed Christ. Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Jacob to Israel. Children were given names which were important to the parents, or that described their temperament or nature.

I was asked recently in an e-mail from my mum why the site here was called The Bible Runner, so I thought I’d respond to that question with a little historical glance over the shoulder, to the original plans for the site and how as a Christ Follower God often revolutionizes our ideas into His own. After all, He did buy my life with His, I am no longer my own.

Note: I have a much more in depth post prepared for today but unfortunately saved it to my hard drive and not my flash drive, so this post will show a very pointed look at just one thing from the Crucifixion we should be thankfull for… and next Monday I’ll post the entire thing.

50 Jesus shouted again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit. (AJ) 51 Suddenly, the curtain of the sanctuary (AK) [u] was split in two from top to bottom;

Matthew 27:50 Holman Christian Standard

Torn Asunder

Not many hours before this the High Priest had torn open his garnment in a sacriligous act at the supposed lies of Jesus our Messiah.

Now God, at the exact time the sacrifical lamb is being sacrificed for the people of Israel has accepted the sacrifice His only Son, chosen since before the foundations of the world. This sacrifice was our doorway into the very Throne Room of Heaven.

The Holy Place

The Holy Place looking towards the Temple Veil

God using an earthquake, and I’d imagine His mighty right hand tore the veil between the Holy and Most Holy place from TOP to BOTTOM. This veil or curtain was 60 feet from top to bottom and 30 feet across, it was also the thickness between thumb and pinkie finger spread wide. It took 300 men to carry it when it was wet. This was no thin tissue paper it was designed to allow only the High Priest into the presence of God, and now God had done away with it.

For us now, Jesus sacrifice still stands as the only way to Salvation, the only way we can ever approach God on His throne is through the Sacrifice of the Son. And the Sacrifice of the Son only matters because of His Resurrection from the grave, and His asencion to the right hand of the Father.

No one searches out the Father, or the Son, without the Father leading Him to interest in spiritual things. Every one of us who has accepted this gift got to this saving grace the very same way. Those of you who are being led toward it or have just found it, you need to accept it.

We all can and should be exceedingly thankful that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. This Thanksgiving be thankful that you have a God who wants to be and intimate loving father through you, and choose to be saved and adopted into His family.

Lord we Thank you for Giving your Son.

In Christ,

Ross

Looking at The Wedding at Cana Part One

Joh 2:1  On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

Joh 2:2  Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.

Joh 2:3  When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”

Joh 2:4  And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”

John 2:1-4

 The Wedding

Jesus and Mary and the disciples had been invited to a wedding, a Jewish wedding. They were guests of the bride or groom, perhaps even both. Jewish weddings lasted for a week at the very least and here in the story it says that we are on the third day of that wedding. And much to the horror of the father of the Groom they have entirely run out of wine, on the third day, what a bunch of heavy drinkers!

Apparently Mary found out and since she was a dear friend of the party (ies) involved she went to her son. Perhaps Jesus had shown some abilities while growing up as a child and young man that encouraged Mary to come to Him, but there are no written records of that. Whatever the case Mary wanted to help the host of the wedding save face so she turned to Jesus, and asked Him for His help.

Jesus with a smile I’m certain said back softly: “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”

Pastor J.D. Farag is a former SDA who now pastors at Calvary Chapel Kaneohe in Hawaii, his teachings are excelleand wholly Biblical. He’s originally from Saudi Arabia so he has a very unique perspective on all things Biblical, not to mention a great way of saying many of the names we know and love from the Bible.

Check out his tyeachings on the Rapture of the Church under Teachings- Revelation- Chapter 4:1 (Yes there are 5 of them five part Rapture Sermon)

I will add the link on my blogroll later but here it is.

I could not recommend this any higher.

If you’ve been watching the trailers I’ve posted for Skyline you’ll remember the shots of people getting sucked up into massive alien ships. Satan is using Hollywood to set up the lie in advance.

Now…oh me oh my. Now they can’t decide how they want to portray the rapture because as you’re about to see they make someone vanish in the twinkling of an eye!

Talk about covering all your bases!

I don’t have sound at the library and this fake rapture still gave me goosebumps!

Please begin a personal relationship with Christ and recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit today by visiting my Revolution page in the menu above. Then you will be saved and certainly not miss the rapture, you will be caught up with Christ to be with Him forever!

I found the clip above through the article listed at the bottom of this post.

What’s the Believer to do with The Law?

Jer 31:31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah,
Jer 31:32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD.
Jer 31:33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Jeremiah 31:31-34

The Law and the Prophets

The above phrase is indicative and inclusive of the entire Old Testament. Or if you wish Old Covenant since that’s what testament means. It would be quite simple of me to go right out and state the following: We live in New Testament times, therefore we live under the New Testament/Covenant if I left it at that this would be a rather short post so I’m not going to do that. What I am going to do however is look at whether or not we’re still beholden to the Ten Commandments or our now under something much better.
