1 Samuel: 3:16 And Eli called Samuel and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

Samuel and the Lord had a very close relationship; the Lord talked to him and told him things straight up because he knew Samuel and that Samuel would make a great mouthpiece for the people. On this night the Lord had told Samuel a great many things about his parental guardian the High Priest Eli. How Eli had let his sons continue to curse God even though he knew about it, how this would in fact never be forgiven Eli.

Samuel also loved Eli like a son would love his father and as he heard these pronouncements I’m sure he felt torn. Of course God was God and what he said was right there was no doubt about that, but he loved Eli so. What if Eli asked him what the Lord had said to him?

Apparently he didn’t get much sleep that night because while it says he stayed in his bed till morning it says nothing about him getting a lick of sleep.

I gave you a heads up with the first teaser trailer for Skyline…and now we have a new trailer that’s far more detailed. And certainly no less detailed with it’s digs at Christianity.

Also there’s another film out now showing another Hollywood version of The Rapture…or the events after it at the very least called Vanishing on 7th Street. Here’s that trailer.

Just remember you have to lay your life at Jesus feet, God purchased you by the death of His Son Jesus Christ. Give God the thorne of your life and He will send the Holy Spirit to live in you and seal you for Heaven.

And when it’s time for the Real Rapture…the Real Gathering together of the Saints in the air you will be taken into the clouds to see your Saviour in the air.

Look to Christ who is the light of your world, give him your life, and you’ll gain eternal life. The only thing you should be afraid of is not having the Holy Spirit, then you will be left behind.

In Christ,

Ross

WAKE UP!

Besides this, knowing the time it is already for you to wake up from sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is nearly over, and daylight is near so let us discard the deeds darkness and put on the army of light.

 Romans 13:11-12

Are You Sleeping?

You are out there right now and you might be sleeping.

You might be living a daily life of work where each hour seems like a year, and the commute home is filled with cig alerts. Perhaps you are a stay at home mum, or single parent and your days seem like they never end. And finally when you drift off to sleep you know you only have a few hours until you wake up.

But what if you were sleeping?

What if you have been going to church for years, two days, and sometimes even three days a week? What if you are on committees, attend board meetings, and even work with the youth of your church, yet you were still sleeping.

Where Do You Stand in the Eyes of The Lord?

Luk 10:38  Now as they were traveling along, Jesus went into a village. A woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.

Luk 10:39  She had a sister named Mary, who sat down at the Lord’s feet and kept listening to what he was saying.

Luk 10:40  But Martha was worrying about all the things she had to do, so she came to him and asked, “Lord, you do care that my sister has left me to do the work all by myself, don’t you? Then tell her to help me.”

Luk 10:41  The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha! You worry and fuss about a lot of things.

Luk 10:42  But there’s only one thing you need. Mary has chosen what is better, and it is not to be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:38-42

Are You a Mary?

As a Christian it can become easy to get the things of life in the wrong order even if that order seems to be right. The world has a certain order of things, things that are natural to the world, the order if you will of the lost. This order generally starts with self, and works through a number of different versions of self before it moves on to others, and somewhere way down the line it finally gets to Jesus.

Dear Adventist Friends: If you preach and teach the Truth then why do you disguise yourself?

While I was still an Adventist I noticed something that still goes on today and it is both puzzling and frightening. Not only does the Adventist Church consistently try and reach out and for all practical purposes steal Christian believers from other denominations, but they also for some unfathomable reason cover up who they are when they do it the vast majority of the time.

This sort of deceptiveness certainly doesn’t sound like the kind of thing that Christians should be doing. In fact Jesus himself called the global church of believers salt (something that adds taste and preserves food) and the light to the world (ones who share our beliefs in Him). At the same time He warns that in the last days the Salt will loose its taste (the Church will start saying things that people want to hear instead of the Gospel) and not only that but He warns us not to cover up our light (by using amongst other things deceptive advertising) in fact in Revelation He warns that if certain churches don’t get their teaching right that their lampstand, (their ability to share the word) will be taken from amongst them.

A Question to my Adventist Friends and my Evangelical Church Family on the Holy Spirit

What have you concluded is the Biblical outlook on the Holy Spirit?

Does it fit with your Adventist viewpoint my Adventist friends?

If it does not what does that say about Adventism?

What I Recall

When I was an SDA I don’t remember much of a concensus on what the Holy Spirit was or did for the believer. I seem to recall it being either like a roadmap for direction you could put in your pocket or a good luck charm. Both of those outlooks have huge issues which in turn leads to a really big problem because a proper understanding of the Holy Spirit is 100 percent essential for a proper understanding of what it means to be a Christian.

Where do you stand?

In Christ,

Ross

1Co 2:9  But as it is written, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him.”

Skyline- The Rapture Hits Hollywood

The news of the movie Skyline came suddenly, practically in the twinkling of an eye, during the Comic-Con in San Diego. It was one of those films that no one had heard of and the first they saw of it was an enigmatic if huge poster on the side of a building. Movie fans could only at that time look at the side of the building at that poster and wonder, what is Skyline, and do I even care.

Then the panel hit, (a panel is where the directors and producers show footage and discuss a film or television project to fans in one of the convention centers halls), and interest for the film rose exponentially. What footage they showed was exciting and intriguing in equal measure, and the description of the storyline made sci-fi fans (of which I am a card carrying member) aquiver with excitement. It was a low budget alien invasion movie, the footage purportedly showed all sorts of strange and awesome destruction. The descriptions were as vague and intriguing as the first officially released photos that weekend that came along with the panel.

Enter the Trailer

Around two weeks ago the trailer hit (and this post began to percolate in my head) and I started to understand what all the fuss was about. The film looked exciting, visually fantastic, and far more costly than its reportedly miniscule budget would allow. And it’s concluding money shot (to my old fleshly side) really fantastically creepy not to mention awe-inspiring.
