Where Christ is…there is the Church

Where Christ is, there is the Church

There is a serious problem within Christianity today that began in the past and will continue into the future. This problem is that for reasons of pride multitudes of denominations have risen up claiming to be the only correct way to eternal life with Christ. The truth is that Satan uses Religion to his advantage; he does everything he can to cause differences of opinion and splits in the Church through religion and the fragmentary nature of different denominations.

Christ should be the Cornerstone

What needs to be understood is that Christ is the Cornerstone on which the Church was and must be continued to be built. Too many Churches are based on opinions and feelings, and human ones at that, and such teaching is dangerous.

By placing Christ as the cornerstone in your personal beliefs you will be able to notice when a church is failing to do so. If a church doesn’t put Christ and his teachings as its cornerstone it’s not somewhere that you want to be. A church, whose abiding reason for being isn’t fortified by Jesus Christ, is simply another fortress for Satan and his followers. And lest we forget Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light, that’s exactly how he makes it seem as if any church is based on a firm foundation even if it’s built on shifting sand.

If You are a Christian you are part of Three Churches

If you are a true Christian you will find that you are part of three churches, sounds a little strange doesn’t it but I promise it’s entirely biblical. You see as a Christian you yourself are a Temple of the Holy Spirit, you meet with brothers and sisters of Christ in a local weekly celebration of beliefs at Church and every believer who has Christ in Him already belongs to one united global church. We are all part of “The Church” otherwise known through the teachings of our Lord and Savior as “the Bride of Christ”.

Part 1: Our Body is a Temple for the Holy Spirit

19 Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. 20 God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.
1 Cor 6:19-20 (MSG)

Our bodies are in fact sanctuaries. When we became Christians, the Holy Spirit bought us through His blood (remember how the Jewish wedding was done the symbol of our joining was the Communion cup which represents the blood He spilled on the cross for us). He paid a high price for our entire being, now it is our calling to let God shine from us, to share Him with the world. Our body is a Church for the Holy Spirit, it is supposed to be clean, our life is supposed to be transformed but so often our sin nature makes a mess of things. We do things that we’d rather not do, Paul lamented about that, but your sin nature will lead you to sin, the most important thing is that if you ask you’ll find that God’s going to forgive that sin. The Holy Spirit will never leave you, but you should study and learn from the Bible and the Holy Spirit in turn will grow within you and slowly change you for the better. This is called Regeneration of the Spirit and results in Continual Sanctification, what God has started in you He promises will come to fruition.

The Local Church

There are churches that do have a firm foundation of Jesus Christ and Christ alone, the Holy Spirit can help you find the right church to worship at all you have to do is ask. For the longest time I attended churches that taught using a form that I called “Hop Scotch spirituality”- the pastors would have to hop all over the Bible to prove a point. Now through the Regeneration of my Spirit, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and study and lots of prayer I’ve been attending churches now that teach book by book and passage by passage sequentially.

We’ve just finished the book of Mark and are starting Luke and I simply can’t imagine seriously engaging in spiritual renewal through my old religion. (Let it be known right now that while I do attend my old church to meet with friends weekly. It feels dead, my Spirit feels doused when I attend, and I rarely feel it swell in exuberance.)

Whereas at my local Calvary Chapel I feel My Spirit and the Holy Spirit worshipping together in a celebration of the awe and majesty that is Jesus Christ. My Spiritual life is on fire, and my local church and my Holy Spirit led life are revolutionizing the way I not only participate but also now live my Christianity to others.

The Global Church (Bride of Christ)

The Global Church or Bride is made up of believers from all different denominations, wait you say I just go through saying denominations were bad. Churches are bad when they push forth view of man as messages from God. However if the foundation of a Church is in fact Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone then part of a denomination or not such a church is a good place to meet others and bolster your spirit and your love for other believers.

The fact of the matter is that the Global Church is a group of believers from around the world who believe in the Gospel, who have given up the control of their lives to the Lord, and who have been sealed and are being regenerated and sanctified by the Holy Spirit who is in them. This is an entirely different thing than a One World Religion, and that is something you do not want to be a part of, not even close.

Remember that at its core Christianity is NOT a religion but a RELATIONSHIP. It is a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and living a life with Christ is a 24/7 thing. Every day of every year the Holy Spirit lives in you means you must be ready to share Him and to stand up for Him. You must be ready to give up everything you have for Him, for He gave up everything He had for you.

Being part of the Global Church is as hard to comprehend as God’s unending love for His creation, but both are as real as the air we breathe. The Bride of Christ is where I want to be forever, in John is says that only those who know the Shepherd (Christ) hear (Understand) His voice.

That leads to an obvious question, what if you don’t know the Shepherd or hear His voice, and want to be part of the Bride of Christ?

You can join the Bride of Christ, Jesus is talking to you, and it’s simply that you just may not be listening because the world is so much more alluring. Remember we’re born Sinners, (I’m still a sinner) we’re more in tune with the cacophony of noise that is the world than the symphony of Jesus who’s calling us consistently and with Love. However if you listen well and ask God for help He will guide you to a deeper life with Him, and He wants to have that relationship so one day you can say that you too are part of the Global Church, the Bride of Christ.

In Christ,
