Sadness, Gladness and Joyfulness

Sometimes the reality of our problems can take a little while to sink in, and sometimes they are not pointed out to us. Most people wouldn’t point out issues that will rock the boat; life is already hard enough what is the point of doing something that could cause issues. Who needs another stumbling rock right? I’ve got things under control, I can do things my way and I’ll be all right. My works are good enough I don’t need to change them.

As friends we might even encourage other that we’re good enough, we constantly compare ourselves to other people and say well at least we’re not as bad as that bloke. There is a distinct problem with this approach, and that’s simply we’re comparing ourselves to other men. If we were to compare ourselves to Jesus Christ we’d realize that we have serious problems, let’s take a look at them below:

19 It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; 20 trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; 21 the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on. This isn’t the first time I have warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom.
Gal 5:19-21 (MSG)

Since we’re all sinners and we compare ourselves to other sinners our works will always look good to us but they look like so much dross to God. And really looking at that list above the evidence is pretty damning, can we really claim that these works are good? I mean seriously if you try and live like everything is okay and all things are good and I’m not really that bad in spite of the evidence to the contrary, no favors are being done for anyone.

The harsh and yet hopeful facts and truths of the matter are as follows:

1) Man’s works are bad through and through.
2) It is by our continuing choice to rebel against our creator that we make such choices.
3) If we continue to make these choices then we will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, and the chance to live an eternal life with our Creator.
4) However God made a way out and it’s been prepared since before the Earth was created, the death of His Son Jesus Christ.
5) Through Jesus Christ we become a new creation, while we have a Sin nature, God has tossed away our sins as far as the east is from the west. That’s every sin even those we haven’t committed yet, but they must be acknowledged to Him.
6) By doing good works through Him to help others we increase our riches in Heaven. (Our eternal life is a Gift by Grace through Faith from God). Our works come naturally from our Regenerated Spiritual selves.
7) Through God’s grace and Love we’ve inherited a place in the Kingdom of God.

We have done the logical thing, and it may have cost us family and friends, but God is good and we have new friends that share in our beliefs. We’ve done our best to walk in the Light of God and to share His Gospel with those we meet. Our lives have probably been difficult, but we’re never promised riches, prosperity and good luck just because we’re a Christian. And that’s fine because we have been sealed and blessed by the Holy Spirit, we have God in us, and it’s changed our outlook on life so that we’re always content with what we have. And that has helped us get through some times that would’ve shattered us like a pane of glass had we still been living by ourselves and for ourselves.

Despair is a thing of the past, but life can still be hard, loss can still affect us. It seems as if God is taking entirely too long to come and receive us unto himself. The truth of the matter is God is giving us a lot of Time to turn to Him but from His own viewpoint He’s barely left for His Father’s House. For to Him a Day is like a Thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.

However be glad because now we are living in a time like this:

12 The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. 13 We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. 14 Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!
Romans 13:12-14 (MSG)

Talk about living in exciting times, the night, this world that hates us Christians so is just about over. Soon the Son of Man will come to take us to be with Him and our never-ending dawn will break. Even now God is perfecting us through the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit that he started in the very first second after we believed Him. Soon He will finish our perfection when we stand before the Bema Seat and receive our crown.

However while we’re still here we must be up and about and living each day for the Lord. As we lead others to look at God and His Word we must always remember to ask God to be in control of our day and our paths. Remember that we’re called to be speakers of the Word to those who are lost as much as we are to always show that we’re doing the good work God called us to do.

Through Paul here He also wants to make one thing perfectly clear and that is that we must be ready at all times for the Bridegroom to call us Home.

There is nothing that brings me as much Joy as sharing the Words of God with all of the people I meet on the street and through this blog. Even though I adore visiting my three boys, and I always feel so torn when I have to leave, I know that when I get to Heaven nothing will ever come between us again.

While on this earth though there are a lot of things that we can intend to do when we get up that get washed away and forgotten. Not one of them is as important as sharing the Word with passion and power. We should be joyous at the fact that we have been called to be Ambassadors for Jesus Christ to spread His word. No matter whether we have and easy life or a difficult one we should have a smile on our face and good message on our tongue. Even in times of duress we should share the Word of God with those around us as Paul wrote to Timothy below:

8 So don’t be embarrassed to speak up for our Master or for me, his prisoner. Take your share of suffering for the Message along with the rest of us. We can only keep on going, after all, by the power of God, 9 who first saved us and then called us to this holy work. We had nothing to do with it. It was all his idea, a gift prepared for us in Jesus long before we knew anything about it. 10 But we know it now. Since the appearance of our Savior, nothing could be plainer: death defeated, life vindicated in a steady blaze of light, all through the work of Jesus. 11 This is the Message I’ve been set apart to proclaim as preacher, emissary, and teacher. 12 It’s also the cause of all this trouble I’m in. But I have no regrets. I couldn’t be more sure of my ground—the One I’ve trusted in can take care of what he’s trusted me to do right to the end.
2 Tim 1:8-12 (MSG)

This message that we have to give, from the one who gave us our new eternal lives is the blood that courses through our veins. I have tried to go for more than a few minutes without simply thinking about some aspect of the amazing Work He’s done in me and through me; and it’s impossible.
The joy of the Lord is my strength, and the strength of the joy of the Lord is in me.

I can’t help but share, I can’t help but smile as I walk down the street, I can’t help but be full of Joy when I think of the amazing things that the Holy Spirit’s Regeneration has done in me.

When I think of my life before I really found God and my life since, I can only smile because without the Lord I would be the person I was at the beginning of this post.

Praise the Lord that He saves us while we’re still Sinners lost in a world of darkness and baptizes us bringing us into His world of Light!

And let’s share that Good News, that Gospel, that Message with others.
