Knock Knock Earth…The Creator is Coming

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
Jesus Christ from Matthew Chapter 24 vs. 8 and 9.

Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Jesus Christ from Matthew Chapter 24 v. 44

This past Easter, to be exact at just after 3 p.m. on Resurrection Sunday a 7.2 earthquake rocked Baja, Mexico. It also rocked my sister’s apartment, as I was half watching High School Musical: Senior Year and helping her with teaching prep. We’re in California, the part of California where the smog moves to in the summer, so we’re used to earthquakes. However as the jolts paused and then shook, and paused and shook again we knew this was not just a small temblor. It went on and on, it seemed to last around 30 seconds, which for a 7.2 is more than enough to make you begin to think about “The Big One”. When the San Andreas Fault blazes past just miles from your place you know it’s simply a matter of time.

When the shaking finally died down to nothing both of us felt as if we were still being lifted by the jolts. Because of that we also noted that it had to have been pretty powerful (I found out the Richter reading the next day) and it was. Let it be known also that recently this area has been hit by a goodly number of temblors that we’ve felt quite readily. More so than regularly I’ll add and it got me thinking as it so often does about the verses at the head of this article. The ones surrounding them are equally as important but I want to focus on two things. One is God’s moved up to “knocking” in a very consistent manner on the planet along with the usual knocking on the heart of the individual. Two, Jesus is coming when we least expect it, so we’d best be ready starting yesterday.

God created the Heavens and the Earth as Genesis declares in its grand first chapter. Ever since things started he’s been watching, he sent His only Son onto this very planet, and the people he came to save didn’t recognize Him. In fact they fulfilled their part in building a bridge of redemption by crucifying Christ like a common criminal. Interestingly enough there was an earthquake when Christ died.

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.
Matthew 27 Vs. 50-51

The veil/curtain separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place and it was both tall and thick…18 inches thick. Notice it was torn from the top to the bottom, all the way, the earthquake didn’t tear it. It was torn in half by God to symbolize the fact that through the death of His only Son we now had a way to stand directly before God. We were no longer cut off from eternity by our sins because Christ had taken them all upon himself for us. He took our death sentence for us. He took our eternal death and turned it into eternal life. Hallelujah!

There’s a problem though, a fundamental disconnect that keeps that barrier there for a great number of people. And that is that they either don’t want to acknowledge God, Christ or anything to do with religion, or, they love sinning so much they don’t want to stop. Besides they’re not that bad surely they won’t be sent to Hell especially if they don’t believe it. Right?

Well I hate to be the bearer of uncomfortable news but just because you don’t believe in something doesn’t make it not right. God wants to have a forever relationship with you no matter what you’ve done, Jesus Christ died for your sins to, and repenting of those sins to God is the ONLY way to get to Heaven. Which is of course that place of perfection that also exists even if you don’t believe in it.

The earthquakes in diverse places are a sign that God is tired of people ignoring Him. He’s knocked hard now three times in rather quick succession. He’s really tired of the blatant disregard of His teachings, and even if you’ve never read or believe his teachings a quick look at the Heavens shows His handiwork.

The earthquakes are also a notice that soon things are going to get much much worse in fact they’re likened to birth pains. Except this time an eternal kingdom is about to be born, after an awful lot of destruction. This destruction though close looks to be proceeded by another thing, and the Apostle Paul calls this other thing “the Blessed Hope”. This event is said to be coming at a time when it’s least expected so it can’t be referring to what the Apostle called “the Glorious Appearing” what many refer to as the Second Coming.

Why it can’t be the Second Coming is pretty obvious to me, it’s hard to miss all the death, destruction and madness that comes before it. Far from being the least likely time for His coming to be expected, people will be awaiting Him once the Tribulation is all over.

The Blessed Hope is therefore referring to The Rapture of Believers; those who have placed their sins on Christ and have let the Holy Spirit live in them. The Church, as they are often referred to were not destined for wrath, in fact the footnotes in my wonderful Hebrew-Greek study Bible for 1st Thessalonians 4 v 13-18 translate our departure as “to seize upon with force.”

The notes say thus: To forcibly seize or take to oneself…the Greek “to meet” means “to come into the presence of, to meet”. In modern Greek it means exactly what it’s always meant, to leave a place and meet one who is coming toward you. It also means to reply to a question that has been put forth. It involves responding to an action of another. Here Paul is talking of the reaction of the believers as a result of the initiative that Christ will take when He comes to take His own unto Himself.

And where is He going to take the Believers? John 14 v 1-6 makes it clear:

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
He’s coming back to take the Believers’ to His Father’s House, this place can only be located in one location. Heaven.

“Our Father who art in Heaven…” Jesus states when he teaches His Disciples how to pray.

The most amazing thing is that Heaven isn’t even our final destination, in Heaven amazing things are going to happen but eventually we’re going to take part in The Second Coming!

Revelation 19 Reveals the Church, prepared as the Bride of Christ in Heaven and then we follow the Lord down on white horses and He brings the Kingdom of God to Earth!

Rev 19:1 After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
Rev 19:2 for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
Rev 19:3 Once more they cried out, “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.”
Rev 19:4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!”
Rev 19:5 And from the throne came a voice saying, “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great.”
Rev 19:6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.
Rev 19:7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;
Rev 19:8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”– for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
Rev 19:9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
Rev 19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Rev 19:11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
Rev 19:13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. Rev 19:15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
Rev 19:16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Rev 19:17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, “Come, gather for the great supper of God,
Rev 19:18 to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.”
Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
Rev 19:21 And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

You know what perhaps I got a little too excited there but it does truly excite me. You too can choose to acknowledge the Creator; He wants you to be part of the Bride, the Church of Believers that accepted the gift of His Son Jesus, and repented of their sins. He has plenty of room for EVERYONE to partake of the wonders of eternity, Heaven and a New Heavens and a New Earth. He doesn’t want to loose anyone. He doesn’t want to see you on this earth having not accepted Him, because by then it’s too late.

Don’t ignore the Creator, the signs will only get worse. And you never know when He’ll come for His Bride to take her to His Father’s House.

In Christ,

Ross
